Tuesday, November 29 – Moorefield United Church, Moorefield, ON, Noon – 2 p.m.
InScribe member Glynis Belec will be speaking at Moorefield United Church about what it means to be a writer and her involvement in the A Second Cup of Hot Apple Cider anthology. Books will be available for purchase, and Glynis will be glad to sign copies. She would love to see you there.
Janet Sketchley will be signing copies of A Second Cup of Hot Apple Cider at Chapters Mic Mac, 41 Mic Mac Boulevard, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Sunday October 30 from 1 to 3pm. Janet is the only Nova Scotian in this heart-warming, all-Canadian anthology. UPDATE: Despite heavy rain that kept away most customers, my signing of A Second Cup of Hot Apple Cider was a positive experience. Many thanks to friends who braved the elements to encourage me, and to the staff of Chapters Dartmouth for their support.
NEW PRESIDENT
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE • November 1, 2010
ICWF Chooses New President

Inscribe Christian Writers’ Fellowship’s new President is looking forward to the challenges of his new position. Jack Popjes has over twenty years of experience in leadership, including serving as a pastor, board chairman, executive director, and CEO. Popjes’s writing has been published in eighteen different markets.
Popjes became President of ICWF in October. His first priorities have been to become familiar with how the organization functions and to clarify the mission and vision statements. “Being a gifted writer is not enough,” Popjes states. “Writers need to develop their latent abilities by interacting with other writers, learning from each other, offering and receiving helpful advice and encouraging one another. That is the mission of Inscribe Christian Writers’ Fellowship.” Building on the strong heritage of the organization, Popjes desires to help the organization grow. “I envision a growing number of Christian writers, of all ages and backgrounds, joining Inscribe Christian Writers’ Fellowship to find their niche, develop their writing talents, and serve God and their fellowman to an extent they can scarcely imagine today.”
ICWF started in Alberta in 1980 as “Alberta Christian Writers’ Fellowship.” In September, 1996 the membership voted to expand across Canada, adding “CanadaWide” to the name. Then, in the spring of 1999 the name was changed to “InScribe Christian Writers’ Fellowship.” ICWF now has members in every province and two territories, including unpublished beginners, writers employed as reporters or editors, many freelancers and several who have published books.
ICWF holds an annual conference in Alberta on the last weekend in September, featuring published writers/speakers and several workshop leaders. ICWF also hosts one-day seminars and workshops throughout the year. Satellite groups meet in various areas around the country for encouragement and to foster excellence by evaluating each other’s work. An active internet listserve and on-line critique groups help writers connect across the country.
