My Personal Side —

  • I was born and raised in Gander, NL. I am married; my husband, Gerald, is a surveyor who operates his own business. We have three adult children, all of which reside in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. I count my blessings to have my children living in the same province as my husband and I. Our children are gifted singers, songwriters and musicians. Their career profile can be found on the following web sites: Grounded and The Keats. We have a new addition to our family this year, our son-in-law who is also a member of the band, Grounded.

  • I am employed with a wonderful organization, The Salvation Army, which I have been employed for four years and enjoy very much. I have the privilege to share the good news with those I come into contact with.

My Write Side —

  • My love for writing developed soon after my commitment to Christ. I felt the need to express in writing my personal testimony. So, my poetry writing took form. Consequently, many more thoughts about my new outlook on life penned its way to my first book, Poems of Inspiration and Occasion. The sales from the book exceeded my expectations. I was so excited and continued to write from my heart. See my blog!

  • God has given me the gift of evangelism. This is my passion! I love to study, teach and write this subject. Of course, I knew I was on a roll with my writing career. I felt the need to write about the basics of Christianity—geared toward the new believer, as well as toward any Christian who wanted to get back to the basics—a refresher course.

  • But then—the heart of it all. I have completed my third book, Evangelism: The Heart of the Matter. This is a study guide for the field worker, those with a desire to spread the Gospel message. I have prepared this guide as an instructional book to teach Christians the basic methods of reaching out to people. Included are two progress charts. This book is now available.

  • Plans are underway for my first devotional book along with future works of my short plays and seminar material.

  • See excerpt from Off the Rock feature on its reporters.
  My Books —

Poems of Inspiration and Occasion
  • This book is a combination of inspirational and traditional poetry. It has a descriptive flare with elements for storytelling. You'll find poems of heartfelt true stories such as "An Old Heart's Cry" and "Here I Am" to the more traditional style, "For the Times are A Changin'" and "The Old Fashioned Clothesline."

Covering The Bases
  • This Bible Study Guide takes you on a journey around the baseball field. There are four main topics covered: Discovering God, Worshipping God, Praying to God and Walking with God. Ultimately, the goal is eternal life which is found on the Home Plate! The book is suitable for a group study or a personal study. Included are discussion notes and fill-ins.

Evangelism- The Heart of the Matter
  • Are you filled with questions or have doubts about relationship evangelism? This book will enable and equip the Christian to embark on the simple journey of reaching people for Him!   Excerptfrom a feature on the reporters and staff of "Off The Rock" Newspaper

Janice's interest in writing began with poetry. Many people would request personalized poems for their friend's and family members. "I actually had a request to write a eulogy for someone I didn't even know. I was told that it touched many people." Her collection of poetry grew big enough to publish a book. Her dream came true with her first self-published book, Poems of Inspiration and Occasion.

She then decided to acquire formal training in the writing field. She studied Creative Writing through Stratford Career Institute for which she received an honors diploma. Since then, she began freelancing. She has had several articles published in various local, provincial and national newspapers.
The sales of her book exceeded her expectation. She had the privilege of being interviewed with CBC radio and at the same time recorded of some of her poetry.

Her employment in the tourism industry led her to the job with "Off The Rock." As a tourism Officer with Gander Worldwide, she had the privilege of writing international news as events occurred. One of the most gripping stories was the Kosovo refugees visiting Gander's Airport. "At the time the war was heavy over there and refugees were being transported to other nations. She witnessed first hand the truth of a war torn country, "The shocking truth and drama of this event had an impact on me. I desperately wanted this story out there to inform the public of the gruesome nature of war. I submitted the article to "Off The Rock," and that led me to a writing position with the paper."

My Photographic Side —

  • My photo journey takes me around the Atlantic Provinces clicking all the nice scenery I can find. I offer packaged photos in various sizes and scenes. From the beautiful Twillingate, NL to the Bay of Fundy, NB; from a cat stuck in a tree to my nephew's rubber boots in the garden, there are samples of almost everything. Also available are photo fridge magnets and laminated bookmarks.
