FellowScript is the newsletter of InScribe Christian Writers’ Fellowship, Canada’s largest organization for Christians who write. It is a 32-page magazine‑style newsletter published four times annually for members. Distribution is approximately 150 to 200 per issue.
Our goal is to link our members by providing member news and information about our events and regional groups. We also provide support, inspiration and instruction.
Nonfiction:
Feature articles: 750-1300 words. We want articles written in a casual, anecdotal style with an emphasis on take-away value for Christian writers. Write something a reader can put into practice right away. (We may use a few articles that emphasize encouragement, showing how a writer overcame a particular fear or difficulty.)
Book and Market Reviews: 150-300 words, reviews that explore only material of particular relevance to Christian writers or that inform writers of new markets for their work, or that provide information about changes in markets. We also publish reviews of members’ books.
Fillers and Tips: 25-500 words. May be used (with author’s permission) in our online electronic version for a period of no more than three months. Do you have a brief explanation of how to be more productive or successful as a writer? Share it with our readers.
Photographs/Artwork: photographs or artwork are occasionally used on the cover of FellowScript or as fillers inside. Please query before submitting, giving a description of the photo/art and where it may fit. Photos and art should be emailed as .jpgs, reasonable quality, black & white only. See past issues for examples of cover art.
Inscribers’ Write: this department is a place for Inscribe members to showcase their writing. Members ONLY are invited to submit their work in any genre, up to 1200 words, for standard payment rates.
General: we are willing to look at any story likely to achieve our stated goals. We always prefer material specifically slanted towards the needs and interests of Canadian Christian writers. We do not publish poetry except as part of an instructional article, nor do we publish testimonials. We give preference to members and to Canadian writers.
Payment:
Two and one-half cents per word (Canadian funds) for one-time rights, or one and one-half cents per word for reprint rights, paid on publication; an extra half cent paid for publication (with author’s permission) on our website for a period of no more than three months.
Reviews and fillers (100-500 words) $5.
Cover photos/art $25; inside photos/art $5.
All payment will be made in Canadian funds or for non-Canadian contributors, in the equivalent that amount via PayPal. We’re no longer able to convert non-Canadian payments into money orders.
Publication Deadlines:
January 1, April 1, July 1, and October 1.
Submissions:
We prefer complete manuscripts by EMAIL. Insert your manuscript into the message rather than send as an attachment. Include complete contact information, word count, and rights offered on the first page of your submission. Use minimal formatting (e.g., no page numbers, no headers/footers).
Postal submissions are accepted only from Inscribe members and should be addressed to FellowScript Editor, c/o 1301-2365 Lam Circle, Victoria, BC, Canada, V8N 6K8.
Sample Copy:
Available for a 9 x 12 envelope with three first class Canadian stamps for up to 200 grams, plus $5.00 (Canadian or U.S. funds). Send sample copy request to FellowScript, c/o Box 6201, Wetaskiwin, AB, T9A 2E9. Note: Do not use American postage on any SASE sent to Canada.
