Categories
- Devotional • maximum 500 words
- Nonfiction • maximum 1500 words – Essay on the Theme verse, Proverbs 12:14: “Wise words bring many benefits, and hard work brings rewards."
- Poetry - Rhymed Verse • up to 40 lines
- Fiction – Children's Short Story • maximum 1000 words.
- Blog Post - related to writing - can be any form - devotional, how-to, advice, whatever - maximum 600 words
Prizes
- First: $100 plus publication in FellowScript and/or on the ICWF Blog
- Second: $50
- Third: $30
Certificates included with all prizes and Honorable Mentions.
Contest Rules/Guidelines
All entries must be original, unpublished work. Entries will be received by EMAIL only. Send to vinemarc@telus.net by EMAILED MICROSOFT WORD ATTACHMENT ON OR BEFORE AUGUST 15th, 2012. Please name the document by the title of the entry and category. For instance, if you send a poem called "God's Favour" title the document God's Favour - Poetry. Please put the category in the Subject field of the email - for example, Fall Contest submission - short story. Send a cover sheet as a SEPARATE ATTACHMENT, detailing your contact information, category, word count, and whether or not a critique is required. You may choose to send a SIGNED entry form by mail with entry fees OR pay online. Late entries will be discarded.
Entry fee is $10.00 per entry. Anyone wanting a critique must submit an extra $10.00. You may enter as many times as you wish, as long as you complete an entry form and pay the entry fee (one cheque is fine) for each entry to ICWF Fall Contest, PO Box 637 Blackfalds AB T0M 0J0. Please state clearly if a critique is requested. NOTE: For Youth writers (under 18) no entry fee is required if age is indicated on entry form.
Important! Type your manuscript in proper submission form with 1" margins and double-spacing (except for poetry) and send by emailed Word doc. attachment. Your name must NOT appear on the manuscript. Type your name, address and title of your manuscript, word count and category on a separate cover sheet for each manuscript submitted.
Entries must be original and unpublished, and not entered in any previous InScribe contest. Simultaneous submissions are NOT acceptable.
Winners will be announced at Fall Conference in September, then in FellowScript, on our Website, Blog and on our Listserve. Winning entries may be read or displayed at the next Fall Conference. Acceptance of a first place prize grants Inscribe publication rights to the award-winning manuscript online and in FellowScript, at the discretion of the editorial staff.
Awards are at the discretion of the judges and all prizes will not necessarily be awarded. This is to encourage quality craftsmanship in your entries.
Judges are anonymous and will not enter into discussion or disputes regarding decisions or awards. Please note, the contest coordinator does not judge the entries. Please do not contact her regarding the judging.
